Adventure Pack
When do I need to add the Adventure Pack?
For some travellers, a holiday isn’t complete without a dose of adrenaline. These are the explorers who chase thrills, ticking off bucket-list adventures like bungee jumping in New Zealand, hot air ballooning over Cappadocia, or white-water rafting in Uganda. While these experiences make for unforgettable memories, they also come with risks — which is why understanding what your travel insurance does and doesn’t cover is so important.
At Easy Travel Insurance, our Comprehensive Care policies — both international and domestic — automatically include cover for a wide range of popular adventure activities. From abseiling to jet skiing, ballooning to white-water rafting, these are the kinds of experiences you can enjoy knowing your policy already has you covered.
Some of the automatically included activities are:
- Abseiling
- Jet Skiing
- Archery
- Kayaking
- Ballooning
- Paragliding
- Bungee Jumping
- Parasailing
- Flying Fox
- Snorkelling
- Horse Riding
- White Water Rafting
- Jet Boating
- Working Holidays
For travellers looking to push the limits even further, additional protection is available by adding the Adventure Pack. This optional upgrade is designed for more extreme sports and activities that require a higher level of risk cover and can be added to your International Comprehensive Care and Domestic Comprehensive Care policy at the time you purchase, or can be added right up until departure.
Add the Adventure Pack if your plans include:
- Closed-circuit triathlons (swimming up to 1.5 km, cycling 40 km, and running 10 km).
- Outdoor rock climbing using ropes, guides, or bolted routes at altitudes below 2,000 metres.
- Scuba diving, with different depth limits depending on your certification. Certified divers are covered to a maximum of 50 metres, while uncertified divers must be accompanied by an accredited guide and cannot exceed 30 metres. Solo diving is not covered.
- Parachuting and skydiving.
- Trekking and hiking up to 6,000 metres above sea level, provided no specialist climbing equipment is required.
- Trekking the Kokoda Track.
- Off-piste skiing and snowboarding, as long as you follow local safety advice.
- Heli-skiing and heli-snowboarding, when part of a guided tour with a licensed operator.
These activities bring incredible rewards, but they also carry greater risks, which is why adding the right level of cover is essential. Always check the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for the specific conditions attached to each activity.
Equally important is knowing which activities are not covered under any policy. Some sports are considered too dangerous or high risk to insure, and participating in them means you won’t be covered for any claims.
Activities that are not covered under any of our policies:
- Hunting
- Rodeo riding
- BASE jumping
- Hang gliding
- Motocross
- Running with the bulls
- Free climbing
- Mountaineering with ropes, oxygen, or specialised climbing equipment
- Trekking above 6,000 metres
- Scuba diving beyond 30 metres without certification or beyond 50 metres even with certification
- Racing of any kind, except for swimming races up to 10 km
It’s also important to note that there is no cover for professional participation in any of these activities. Whether you’re competing, performing, or working as a guide, professional involvement excludes cover.
Adventure activities are a fantastic way to experience the world in new and exciting ways — but they do require careful planning. Adding the right level of protection ensures you can throw yourself into these experiences with confidence, knowing you’re supported if something goes wrong.
