Snow Sports
A bad day on the slopes beats a good day anywhere else?
Rumour has it that the winter sports holiday was ‘born’ in the 1800’s when a hotelier in St Moritz wagered a group of British tourists enjoying the hospitality at his establishment, the Klum Hotel during the summer of 1864, that it is sunnier in winter in St Moritz and that if they returned at Christmas and stayed until Easter he would cover their board and lodge if he was proved wrong.
Well, apparently it certainly was gloriously sunny and the winter sports holiday was off to a flying start!
Of course no matter how wonderful the weather, a snow sports holiday in the cold is not everyone’s cup of tea, but for those amongst us who adore the thrill of snow skiing, snow boarding and snow mobiling, ensuring you have your back covered by a great travel insurance policy is of paramount importance.
Do I need to add Snow Sports cover?
Cover for snow sports is available as an option with all Easy Travel Insurance international and domestic policies. You will only be covered for snow sports if you pay the additional premium, so if you are heading to the snow for any sporting activities you should select this option when purchasing cover for your trip. You do not need to add the Snow Sports cover if you are just visiting a snowy destination and you are not participating in snow sport activities.
You can get a quote online or over the phone but even if You pay the extra Snow Sports premium, You will only be covered if:
- You are skiing or snowboarding On-Piste
- You are not racing; and
- You are not participating in a Professional capacity
Our standard ‘Snow Sports’ option will cover you for activities within your resort. “On-Piste” means on a marked trail or slope prepared for the purpose of skiing or snowboarding within the boundary of the ski field or ski resort and used in accordance with any regulations published by the ski field or ski resort.
If you need cover for “Off-Piste” snow skiing/boarding and/or heli-skiing/boarding you should select the Adventure Pack instead. If you select the Adventure Pack, you do not need to add the Snow Sports option as this cover is also included in the Adventure Pack.
